SUMMARY:Free Vineyard-Side Summer Music Series at The Grange of Prince Edward (Prince Edward County Jazz Festival Event)
DESCRIPTION:Kind of Groove \n(Prince Edward County Jazz Festival) \nAs part of the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival\, The Grange of Prince Edward Winery’s free Vineyard-Side Music Series welcomes Kind of Groove. “Kind of Groove” is a high-energy ensemble built around deep pocket\, feel\, and musical chemistry. Featuring Blair Yarranton (trumpet & effects)\, Martin Traynor (guitar & voice)\, Phil Woodard (bass)\, and Gary Buffett (bass)\, the group dives into groove-driven music that blurs the line between jazz\, funk\, and soul. Inspired by the electric-era explorations of icons like Herbie Hancock\, Freddie Hubbard\, and Miles Davis—while weaving in reimagined grooves and textures drawn from artists like Bill Withers\, Stevie Ray Vaughan\, and The Temptations—Kind of Groove delivers a sound that is anything but traditional. This isn’t a sit-and-listen jazz act; it’s a dynamic\, feel-good jam band that locks into infectious rhythms and invites audiences to move\, connect\, and ride the groove. \nGuests are encouraged to RSVP by emailing events@grangeofprinceedward.com to reserve their spot and receive a complimentary wine tasting.

SUMMARY:Fearsome Creatures
DESCRIPTION:Fearsome Creatures is a photographic art exhibition that celebrates the beauty and wonder of life in our gardens. \nFollowing a successful debut solo show in July\, G L Barrett returns to County Arts Project Room for a pop-up show that promises a fresh view of the insect world through a macro lens. This time\, the stars of the show are some of the most interesting creatures that live in our gardens\, striking fear into the hearts of many bugs – especially the ones we call “pests”. Elegant Mantises\, fluffy\, wide-eyed Jumpers\, and dino-like Ambush Bugs are all celebrated in this unusual exhibition. \nIf you’ve ever been curious about what’s living in your garden\, you won’t want to miss this fascinating exhibition of photographic art – these are the cutest creepy crawlies you’ve ever seen! \n— Where and When \nThis show is happening at County Arts Lab Project Room\, The Armoury\, 206 Main Street\, Unit 2E\, Picton ON K0K 2TO\, on the following dates:\nSaturday 19 September\, 2026: 10 AM-6 PM\nSunday 20 September\, 2026: 10 AM-6 PM \n— About the Artist \nBritish-born GL Barrett is on a mission to highlight the insect species found in and around Prince Edward County\, raising awareness of the importance of these crucial but oft-overlooked creatures. Through a portrait-style photographic approach\, GL Barrett’s art goes beyond the super-macro to offer a different view into the lives of these\, our unseen neighbours. \nOver the past two years\, GL Barrett’s art has featured in over a dozen shows\, from Kingston to Hamilton and their art can also be found at Arts on Main Gallery in Picton. To learn more about GL Barrett and their entomological photography\, visit GLBarrett.com. They can also be found on Instagram at @theglbarrett

SUMMARY:Marsh Creek Community Bioblitz
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity for connection and collaboration with all those who care about nature! \n\n\n\n\nJoin us Friday September 25 and Saturday September 26 for two days of nature-packed activities as we discover Marsh Creek’s wild side as part of the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Great Canadian Bioblitz. Organized by Prince Edward County Field Naturalists (PECFN) and Feral Folc in partnership with the South Shore Joint Initiative\, Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory\, Friends of Delhi Park\, VTLA Studio and Trees for PEC. \nA ‘bioblitz’ is a 24-hour event that invites residents\, visitors\, naturalists and nature lovers of all ages and experience levels to work collectively as community scientists to observe and document the remarkable biodiversity of a specific place using the iNaturalist app. \nAnyone can participate and all observations documented will contribute to a better understanding of overall ecosystem health while supporting one of Canada’s largest community science initiatives. This collaboration and recording of local plants\, animals\, insects\, fungi and more is intended to build local knowledge\, strengthen relationships and lay the groundwork for ongoing community stewardship and ecological monitoring along Marsh Creek. \nThe Bioblitz is FREE to attend and will offer iNaturalist training\, informative learning materials about local wildlife\, drop-in exploration and activities for all ages\, as well as scheduled walks\, workshops and conversations on specific themes and species. No previous experience necessary\, just curiosity and a willingness to slow down and look a little closer. \nThe Marsh Creek and Delhi Park Community Bioblitz iNaturalist project study area follows Marsh Creek from Glenwood Cemetery\, through Delhi Park to Picton Bay. Already\, the iNat project has 84 observers who have contributed 381 observations representing 191 species. This beloved green space in the heart of Picton is home to wetlands\, a creek\, meadow and mature tree canopy\, all providing essential habitat and an ecological corridor for wildlife. \nRegistering for the Bioblitz helps us anticipate attendees and allows us to update you on potential weather cancellations as well as sharing the final report. It’s recommended but not required.
